I think something that has been overlooked, particularly in relation to her constituents, is that she probably has very few black constituents. Again, not saying that in any way excuses what she said, but I think a lot of commentators are looking at this through a very London/big citycentric lens. Many areas of the country look and feel nothing like the big cities, London particularly.
So it may be that her constituents will be less exercised about this than they would if she was a city MP. |
