I think something that has been overlooked, particularly in relation to her constituents, is that she probably has very few black constituents. Again, not saying that in any way excuses what she said, but I think a lot of commentators are looking at this through a very London/big citycentric lens. Many areas of the country look and feel nothing like the big cities, London particularly.

So it may be that her constituents will be less exercised about this than they would if she was a city MP.

I am sure the vast majority are. The environment however may be less PC obsessed.

Wait, are you saying that you have to be black to find her comments offensive and inappropriate for an MP?  That in itself is racist and also a little patronising of her constituents implying that they aren't worldly or metropolitan enough to understand their MP is a terrible human being.

can't see why anyone would even consider defending that woman .What she said was wrong and profoundly embarrassing to the Government so she had to go.I have no doubt she will reappear at some point in the future

She hasn't gone. She has been suspended for 3 months.

A bit like Ken Livingstone was suspended. Despite having more form than Shergar.

Maybe we should get Rhodri Philips the viscount of wherever to sort her out.That is after he is released from whichever open prison he might spend some time in.Mind you they would probably get on like a house on fire
