The system isn't rigged - its operating exactly as it was designed to do.

The Democratic Party understand this that is why they blocked the last attempt at changing the system.

I think the spelling should give some small insight into the type of mind who would petition for an event already happening.

Working as designed but likely not working well keeping people engaged in democracy. Perception matters in politics, no matter what the truth of a matter actually is.
Some in the US will view their votes as not really counting, so why bother voting as they may well perceive the system is rigged. Plus what you've not factored in is the gerrymandering of congressional districts that's gone on that helps to decide how the Electoral College votes are shared. That's a never ending game of cat and mouse between the two parties.

Both Republicans and Democrats understand they've got a cushy number, being a 2 party state. No real alternatives to them. So why rock the boat ?

Anyway tooth extraction and high as a kite on sedatives later today, it will be more fun than talking about Donald Trump.

well that happens under any system.

The electoral college is based on the population of individual States, not Congressional districts - I dont think you can gerrymander the size of Texas for example.

She was 13 and she put it on for her dad who wasn't technically minded. It only exists at all thanks to those trying to petition against something already happening. There was an interview with the guy on Radio 5 earlier today. He admits the end of the word is wrong and seems to be something to do with dodgy autocorrect.

BBC Radio 5 live - In Short, 'My 13-yr-old daughter wrote pro-Trump petition'

"The man who created a pro-Donald Trump petition which has now gathered over 200,000 supporters has told BBC 5 live that it was actually suggested and written by his 13-year-old daughter, who supports the US President.

In his first media interview, 68-year-old Alan Brown, a businessman from Dover who supports Mr Trump, told Emma Barnett on 5 live Daily that his daughter was “over the moon” with the response it has received.

The petition is in favour of the US president making a state visit to the UK because the UK “supports free speech”.

It will be debated by MPs on 20 February, along with a separate petition opposing a state visit by Mr Trump, which has now gathered more than 1.7m signatures.

This clip is originally from 5 live Daily on 1 February 2017"
