An interesting discussion and I learned something new. Naturally air passenger duty doesn't pay towards safety, firefighters, maintenance etc...Yet it is a significant part of the cost of the tickets...
What I found interesting reading up on it, that if you didn't have a flexible ticket, yet still need to cancel, you should be able to get the tax element back from the ticket as that is not payable unless the 'seat' actually flies....I wonder how many 'budget' fixed ticket airlines actually keep that part for themselves |
