Still room for improvement me thinks. Why do they make every diabetic call in? Was there anything useful in that discussing other than you confirming what you already knew?

So if you knew the answer and was happy to self diagnose why did you ring up and waste NHS resources.

Cheers,

Nigel

Probably something in that.  So the area that makes one of the highest NI contributions gets some of the worst service.

Makes sense I suppose see that all the time - some of the highest income tax contributions in the country and the worst funding for our schools.

Cheers,

Nigel

Indeed, also why the Surrey Council leader nailed the Governments danglies to the door over community care cost with the threat of an increase in council Tax to cover the cost, but the government shook that money tree instead. Why increases in community care because these other providers put their overheads first before the patient and put people out as soon as they can, for local council to pick up.

And this Government has already tried personal responsibility of  community care by nicking off with the kids inheritance and it almost lost them election. Never has there been a scramble for a socialist funded model, almost every home owning person became an evil Marxist, it was some political feat.

Strange thread, NHS England is basically a commisioning service since 2010...

Should add that I am in West Sussex, not Surrey - so my comments about the school funding related to West Sussex.  My two local hospitals were closed - well almost, but strangely still remain open - almost like we are closing the hospital but the unions rebelled so they have been kept open to retain employment but the service they provide to tax payers has been really cut back - another silly waste of money.  So for most hospital stuff we have to go to East Surrey in Redhill.

Cheers,

Nigel

To be more specific, it said to call them if you don't have an early morning appointment. Presumably, if I hadn't been happy to fast until after my 10:30 appointment they would have moved it to an earlier time.

No, if I were there would be plenty of funding, built up historically from previous Labour governments.

I accept that they may have been clipped a little by the government levels but that does not offset the high levels established whilst Labour was in power.

Don't forget that education funding is set at a county level so sits across councils of different colours.  For some reason (still unexplained), West Sussex receives significantly less funding per student from the government than practically all other counties.

Cheers,

Nigel

I'm surprised a Conservative council would bend over for some localised Union rebellion. They need to stand firm.

As I said above, education funding is not a clear cut red or blue thing.

But generally, Conservative Governments tend to limit spending across the board, whereas Labour Governments are more likely to borrow and spend but tend to favour Labour councils.

This means that over time and successive governments, Labour councils tend to fair better than Conservative ones when it comes to funding.

Cheers,

Nigel
