But let's not tar all Tunisians with the same brush.  Whilst the armed police, security forces and coastguard cowered, a jetski ride seller chased the killer down the beach just armed with two ash trays.

He deserves a medal and financial reward.

Agreed Nigel,  These are normal Police more used to dealing with the tourist who has lost his wallet. To be asked to confront a crazy terrorist is something else. Most normal police don't even have the training for that sort of thing.

I heard on the radio yesterday that they were armed police so should have been able to deal with such threat if that's true.

But they carry sidearms as a minimum.

Presumably they will only use them against defenceless people.

Police sources quoted in local media said the man was heard shouting "Allahu Akbar" ("God is greatest" in Arabic).
