I always find it interesting when people with little real knowledge about huge texts start quoting tiny portions out of context.
Personally, I'm still amazed that no one has proposed the blindingly obvious on this. Full equal rights, different name. No one has any issue with saying men and women are equal, without having to insist on women being allowed to call themselves men.
Man/woman. Husband/wife. Marriage/? The gay community have proved themselves to be intelligent and inventive when it comes to terminology - let them have a go at this.
I'm deeply suspicious of Cameron. It wasn't too long ago that the Conservative Party was against the equalising of the ages of consent for straight and gay sex. Most of the Conservative MPs who voted on that issue are still in the commons.
