Until 2016, the survey did not include fraud and cyber crime. If you exclude those crimes in order to compare like with like, then between 2010 and 2016, crime fell by 35%.

Although funding is a bottom line issue, I am not even sure the Mayor has a plan to stop the rise in violence in London.
I would like to hear a clear statement about how he wants to go forward. It won't be just about police numbers. There has to be changes to the way young people view this kind of violence. It has become the norm. Everything is uploaded for all to see. More education about this in schools?
There is also the drug problem that Lammy highlighted. And stop and search, which I understand has been minimised.
We have to reduce this spiralling trend.

That's exactly what he has done with several initiatives across London aimed at changing young people's attitude towards carrying knives. He seems very aware of where this rise in violent crime is being fed from and is, quite rightly, trying to stem that particular flow.
On a wider scale he is also looking to the VRU that was successful in hugely reducing violent crime in Glasgow.

He maybe complaining about the effective budget cuts, along with pretty much every police force, but he's also implementing plans to reverse this recent rise in violent crime across the capital.
