It isn't to make me feel better but to make the majority of law abiding Muslim citizens more apparent to those increasing amount of UK citizens whose opinions are being influenced by the constant negative reporting of that community in the media.
It is these communities that will feel increasingly isolated and threatened by, what is, an increasing tide of ill feeling towards them. The state cannot take all the burden of responsibility for ensuring a positive image for the Muslim community and, ultimately, their safety - if they are serious about taking a full part in a wider UK multicultural community then they should take more responsibility in promoting that instead of allowing a small ,but increasing minority, of extremists to promote the exact opposite. |
