So why Khan calling for extra funding from central Government is the met cannot physically increase the rate of recruitment from what it is now?

Surely the Mayor is not grandstanding again?

I thought you said he was wasting money on fountains and staff?  I would assume that the Government are able to fund/train more Police nationwide than the Mayor of London can (the Home Sec has already proposed an additional 20k)

Well the thread (despite all your attempts at diversion) is about the murder rate in London. So what other Police forces may or may not be able to do is rather irrelevant.

I'm not talking about other forces, I'm talking about the Central Government, specifically the Home Secretary, being able to train/fund more Police recruits than the Mayor of a single city can.

As for diversions, maybe you need to look closer to home before accusing other eh

you said that:

"£5 million is the maximum additional funds the Metropolitan Police Service (the ‘Met’) can spend on extra officers and recruitment in 2018-19. Work will be done to speed the recruitment process in time for 2019-20."

the source of the money is irrelevant if that is the case.

Perhaps time to stop trying to divert away from what Khan is doing in London.

Yes, I quoted actual facts, rather than angry newspaper articles complaining about him spending money on improving services for those young people who end up in gangs etc rather than investing in more Police, when his budget clearly shows investment is already being made, but he needs more.

Ok, I give in with trying to debate with facts and budgets.  You win, it's all Khan's fault because he's a Labour Mayor. Once he's replaced with a Tory everything will be rosey again

Any idea why it took Amber Rudd 13 months after having a meeting with the team from Glasgow to providing additional funds?
