Yes I know what is, the error I made was I thought it was the one that nearly got voted through last time.  But it was way off, it was the Customs Union that came close, but looking at that one it doesn’t even stand up on its own - it’s a bolt-on.

Cheers,

Nigel

Hi @Pacifico

Yeah I linked that this morning as it has a fair bit of detail of how CM 2.0 may look. But as far is I know it was an article done by an independent website? unless you know differently?

Nick Boles Motion specifically mentions joining both EFTA and EEA and not some kind of hybrid, George Peretz is a highly respected QC and likely to know more about this than you and I. His article has been retweeted by multiple MP's who all seem in agreement. Unless they are all being convenient with the truth?

cheers

About Common Market 2.0:

Common Market 2.0 is a Brexit plan being put forward by the cross party 'Norway Plus' Group of MPs. The group is co-chaired by Nick Boles MP and Stephen Kinnock MP and is committed to overcoming narrow tribal party-political divides, to deliver a Norway style Brexit in the national interest.

For the life of me I cannot understand what the fascination is with membership of the Customs Union and why so many MP's are in favor of it - only one non-EU country has a deal like that and they are looking at getting out of it.

I think it is because it is a safe non-committal vote.  It doesn't anything on its own.  It just seems to bolt onto any leave deal as a bit of 'try this on too.

Bit odd because you could end up with a no-deal with customs union bolted on.

Or even CM2.0 with customs union bolted on.

Cheers,

Nigel

Pity there isn't a crime of bringing Parliament into disrepute - Nick Boles would have been locked up by now.

This is what he said in 2016:

Clinging onto the structures of the club we have just left – whether the Single Market or the European customs union – while having no say over their future development, would ensure that we end up in the worst of both worlds, neither in nor out, with no power to influence what the European Union does, and no freedom to do something different.
