So, as there's now (in theory) going to be a delay........

What a ridiculous suggestion, ask the public what they want, play cat and mouse for 3 yrs at the publics expense, and now you recommend the same public take them to court.

Ok glad we have someone here from the inner circle  who can state things with such certainty. Not only that it was deliberate, but even the reasons why.

I'm looking forward to the next set of polling.

I think it's fanciful to expect Boris to suffer for writing a letter that parliament compelled him to do. We can see he has tried his utmost to get us out on October 31 and voters will recognise that.

Wholly agree. If the Parliament put as much energy into this to make it work as they do to slow it down we’d be in a very good position. Parliament are not doing themselves any favours at all.

So you really believe that he accidentally forgot to sign the letter which he proclaimed he would never send?  Come on, be serious.  The amount of press and Twitter “source” reporting on the fact that he didn’t sign the first letter, but did sign the follow up letter, is a clear indication of intent.

I've heard it all now

Inspector Clouseau on an off day could still work out what's gone on. It was a clear act of petulance, in retaliation to the House for making him do it.

Glad to see he's been true to his word anyway, like always.

Of course it was deliberate, it was designed to comply with his promise - the follow up letter made that quite clear by stating that the letter requesting an extension was coming from Parliament and not him.

As ever, missing/ignoring the point entirely.

The conversation was about Johnson’s omission of his signature on the extension letter, and whether it was an accidental mistake by a tired politician, or a deliberate step to focus the media attention on it, rather than the fact his grandstanding, “dead in a ditch” rhetoric is a long forgotten memory.

Try and keep up - he explained why he didnt sign it in the second letter. It was simply to highlight that he was complying with the Law (as he promised) by sending the letter. However the request for an extension was coming from Parliament and not him - he advised against it.

And accidentally No 10 Downing Street were out of headed paper for the first unsigned letter but managed to get some more in time for the signed letter.
Or perhaps someone selected the wrong tray on the printer for ordinary A4 rather than the tray with the headed paper and no one noticed what was missing from the letter.
And the secretary, when they took the letters in for signature, didn't notice that Boris didn't have a pen in his hand when he 'signed' the letter. And/or didn't bother checking that the letter had been signed.

All points to the secretary being the cause. You just can't get the staff nowadays...
