I've said before that I suspect there is a strong correlation between personal appetites for risk and how people voted. I would love to see some research on this because I think you're probably right, but not for the reasons you are saying. I think that remainers are probably by nature more cautious than leavers, and it feels like this is the crux of a lot of the conflict between the two. One group prefers to have lots of information to allow them to make an informed decision to minimise the harm, and the other is more content to wing it and take action, and deal with any consequences later. Neither perspective is wrong, in fact it's important to have a healthy conflict between the two. In my opinion this conflict results in a better all round result than stagnation on one side, or chaos on the other. |
