So have just read the first volume of The Boys which I really enjoyed. I found it easier to read than Preacher although it is as 'hard core' so will probably dump Preacher and carry on with this. Have got DMZ vol 2 and 3 on my TBR pile.

The boys is very adult in nature, and is a cracking good read to boot.

There are loads of classic UK comics and the artwork is vastly superior to the mass produced american stuff!

Trouble is only 2 of the 8 you listed where not in the pages on 2000AD, a single publication.

We may have had really good british comics back in the 70's and early 80's, with Warlord, Battle, 2000AD, Scream etc, but now we have really kidified stuff, with massive panels and little dialogue to cater for kids 2 second attention spans.

Check my bookcase and you will find my 2000AD reprint collections and I own a hUUGGEEE collection of original 2000ADs - I personally stopped reading them when they hit the glossy paper (around 500?) but picked up a massive collection from ebay of numbers into around 1200 or so (is it nearly Prog 1700 now?) years ago.

Why oh why didn't I find out about GN's sooner? I'm really enjoying the ones I've picked up since I started 'collecting' in the last few months. In most cases they are offering something that isn't really available in any other medium....long running stories that have time to develop, 'visual' presentation that you might see in a Sci/fi/Action movie but with the fantastical elements that the movies often find so hard to replicate.

So far I've read;

Kick Ass
Wanted
Serenity - Those Left Behind
Watchmen
The Boys (up to vol 3)
DMZ (up to vol 3)
Y: The Last Man (vol 1)
Preacher (vol 1 but probably won't continue)

I'm planning on completing all of them over the next few months (cash allowing lol) and will also be getting The Walking Dead in anticipation of the TV series (which I'll only be able to get when it comes to DVD).

I would continue with Preacher, unless the reason for not continuing is extreme knob jokes and violence as it is very good.

Add Sandman to the list as well, and if you want a really long story arc, grab Bone, a 1300 page smashing story for all ages at a stupid stupid price.

My good friend Paulie got me the first Walking Dead GN and I devoured it in a couple of hours. Volumes 2 and 3 are winging their way from Amazon to me now.

I think I've found a new hobby...
