I think it's because Batman, for years, had always been quite clean in terms of what is printed, especially as it was for so long subject to scrutiny by the CCA. It was mostly a shock to people and with shock generally comes outrage, either way the censoring is the worst attempt I've seen as the words are still clear through the block, seems pointless...
Crossed is brilliant, but as above there's no expectations or history to go on with it, so if you start something out with language then you expect it. Though the dropping of multiple F-Bombs and excessive use of the C word by Miller was pretty unnecessary.
Because it means nothing these days... it used to back in the silver age when parents would go crazy at any kind of horror or such, but now nobody really cares, the CCA logo eventually got smaller and smaller and now isn't really seen or known about. |
