Based on this thread I've just picked up the first in the dresden files series. Will start listening tomorrow.
Wasn't sure I'd like audiobooks as I'm an avid reader and didn't think I'd become as engrossed when a book was read by someone else. How wrong I was!
I have an hours work commute each way so I've been devouring books.
I've got around 30 now - and I'm always on the look out for a new series.
However, I only seem to get on with English narrators - American accents just kill it for me.
Earlier today I finished with the clifton chronicles by Jeffery archer. Not an author or genre I'd usually go for - but the first was free and I was hooked from the off.
From book 2 onwards they are narrated by Alex Jennings and he's a master at his craft. Highly recommended series.
Also bought first response by Stephen leather recently - again very highly recommended.
As we're the fry autobiographies.
Anyone have any other series they care to recommend? Usually like eithier fantasy or a good action thriller.
Love Lee Child, Tom Cain, George RR Martin, Terry Goodkind etc....
Update - jut finished the first chapter on the Dresden series.... cant get on with the narrator. American accent thing again. I shall persevere in the hope that I can get past it. Story seems decent though so I may ditch the audiobook and grab the actual book. |
