After finishing all the Dune saga took some time i must admit but worth it, i decided i needed something a little lighter so while looking through what was available i found some old books i read years ago i quite enjoyed these at the time so have just started The Belgariad by David Eddings.

Yes, I subscribe to Audible and have 40  books on there now. I love it and have listened to some great audio books. Highlights would be the Harry Potter books (narrated by Stephen Fry), the Martian and Stephen Kings book 'On Writing' narrated by the great man himself!

Yeah I listen to a lot of audio books.

Also, your local library will most likely have audio books to rent either by going into the library itself, or more often now, they have a digital library where you can download it straight from home.

Based on this thread I've just picked up the first in the dresden  files series. Will start listening tomorrow.

Wasn't sure I'd like audiobooks as I'm an avid reader and didn't think I'd become as engrossed when a book was read by someone else. How wrong I was!

I have an hours work commute each way so I've been devouring books.

I've got around 30 now - and I'm always on the look out for a new series.

However, I only seem to get on with English narrators - American accents just kill it for me.

Earlier today I finished with the clifton chronicles by Jeffery archer. Not an author or genre I'd usually go for - but the first was free and I was hooked from the off.

From book 2 onwards they are narrated by Alex Jennings and he's a master at his craft. Highly recommended series.

Also bought first response by Stephen leather recently - again very highly recommended.

As we're the fry autobiographies.

Anyone have any other series they care to recommend? Usually like eithier fantasy or a good action thriller.

Love Lee Child, Tom Cain, George RR Martin, Terry Goodkind etc....

Update - jut finished the first chapter on the Dresden series.... cant get on with the narrator. American accent thing again. I shall persevere in the hope that I can get past it. Story seems decent though so I may ditch the audiobook and grab the actual book.

Ok so the dresden book is going back. Had to stop listening.  Narrator sounds bored. I just couldn't connect with it. I'll pick up the physical book though.

Any suggestions for new listens?

Thanks for the suggestion. Ive recently read the book (then watched the film) so ill give this one a miss and perhaps pick it up later next year when enough time has passed for me to enjoy it all over again
