I expect most people withdraw more than €200 in a month when on holiday.

I withdrew €200, came back with €50 of it. It would have been more but i used €60 to pay for diesel. The rest of the holiday i used my card, over €1400.

Its a bit pointless taking a card if you are just going to withdraw cash all the time.

Try getting currency using interbank exchange rates with zero fees in the uk

I find cash far easier to control holiday expenditure and a lot of places prefer cash to cards, especially on the Greek Islands

We just get around €250 upon arrival, then probably another €150 on day 5

That's fair enough if you prefer cash, and use of the card will vary from country to country so best to see how transactions at the your destination are mainly cash or card and get a product from there.

I’ve been three Greek islands, the only one that batted an eyelid at paying by card was Lefkada. Kefalonia and Corfu it was just the norm. Even in lefkada it was the smaller areas that kinda frowned at getting handed a card.

3rd year using our revoult card in the USA and other than petrol pumps (can pay inside) never had any issues. Brilliant holiday card that you have full control over.

My cash fee free limit is £600 with Revolut and the 0.5% you mentioned with Starling is only up to £2000 and halves there after. But yes Revolut is not part of the compensation scheme.

I’ve never understood that logic. €400 euros is €400 euros. Whether it is cash or card it is the same amount. Why would cash be easier to control?

Yes I always get some cash out as well, but hardly ever need to use it and I end up using it because I withdrew it as a habit and don’t want to bring it back.

Thought it was obvious that it's easier to monitor cash expenditure than multiple card transactions
