Get it booked and pay close attention to the briefing beforehand. I don't know how they vary from place to place, but I learnt so much in that 30 minutes or so. The instructors were great in the car too, being positive and encouraging me to go 'flat out' on a couple of occasions when my natural instinct (used to driving my diesel 320 estate or Z3 3.0) would be to lift off a bit.

I realised I still had last week's GP on my Humax, so I watched back the first few laps just to see the bits that I drove on.

Booked mines today. Choice of car are as follows:

Audi R8, Ferrari F430, Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche 911 Turbo, Mustang GT, Aston Martin Vanquish and BMW M3 V8.

Have the choice of 3. Definitely going for the Lamborghini and the Ferrari, struggling on what to choose for the last one? Any opinions. The 911 Turbo on paper seems very similar to the F430 so might be a bit samey.

Gutted there's no Nissan GTR. Was hoping to get a shot of the launch control on that beast.

I recently had one of these in a McLaren MP4-12C.

As expected, it wasn't that great.

2 hours driving each way to get to the venue.
A measly 4 laps, which was over in less than 10 minutes.
You were requested to change gear at about 4,000rpm.
The whole day is geared to getting even more money out of you when you are there: "would you like to buy the additional damage waiver for £30, otherwise there is a £2k excess?"; "would you like to buy photos or a video?"; "would you like to buy extra rides?"
Don't forget, the original experience wasn't exactly cheap in the first place.

Hope you enjoy it.

The Gallardo should be fun....did you consider the M3?

my gf bought me a driver experience day for my birthday that i went to today. got to drive a lambo (think it was a gallardo) and a ferrari. the ferrari i was meant to be in was in for repairs (engine and gear box, nothing major lol), so i got an upgrade to a 458 italia. wow, what a beast   thing was soo smooth, flappy paddles were awesome and quick and the thing drove like a dream.

now i am hooked and want to book something else soon.

i want to do something at a circuit where i can get up a bit of speed though - the one today was quite twisty and on one of the main straights they put a man made chicane to slow us all down.

so just looking at whats available. the ariel atom appeals, as i saw one of them being taken round today and the thing looked rapid.

anyway, no real point to this thread, but wow, got the bug now

Hi guys, If I wanted to book a track day as a gift for my bestman, which comapany would you go with?
Under £100 if possible, as long as he gets a good few laps in and there for more than 10min in the car

It looks like you are after an "Experience" day, rather than a "Track" day. for some reason the two have become confused in this thread.

However, you won't get anything any good for under £100, or even over £100. sorry.
