Wouldn't even bother with a solicitor. If you have the report I would ask for a refund on the poor repair job. Small claims court going forward and with an independent report you are very likely to win

I'd almost bet that Ford come back with, "Sorry about the spongy brake, we can sort that, and while the wheel wasn't quite straight, it wasn't a safety issue, but was overlooked so we'll fix that"  "That repaired brake pipe wasn't us we put in the shiny new one on the other side"

As I'm going to argue fraudulent behaviour then it's better coming from a lawyer and will just add costs as part of any claim.

This all started because it's an old van and they no doubt thought we don't have to bother because he will never know and even if he does find out he won't be able to afford legal fees etc.

So I feel it's better to hit them hard at the start via a lawyer saying pay up or go to court, and because this is via a legal firm it's not a bluff. Besides I fear that they just wouldn't take it seriously otherwise.

The only reason they are being nice to me now is because ford UK are on their back. Once that goes it will be back to don't care take us to court etc.

Far better to spend a couple of grand in legal fees and claim it back as part of any settlement

Besides as soon as I put in writing that I plan to take legal action ford UK will take a step back as they won't want to be involved in that. They might well follow it, but nothing more unless I win, and as I could lose... That would be the end of the matter as far as Ford UK would be concerned.

No, far from it. All they have agreed to so far is that it has been handled badly and that they are happy to check and fix anything that might have not been done 100% correctly.

In regards the inspection they are neither agreeing or denying what had been found until they see the written report.

So some air still in the brake fluid, possibly, brake pipe missed, very unlikely. Only way we can say for sure is if you drop off and leave the van with us for the day.

In short they are only admitting to what they have to until they have written proof that shows otherwise

Post #48 doesn’t read that way to me. They mention they want reports from the dealer and the independent report etc but as far as @Cocksure mentions they haven’t committed to or admitted anything about what may it may not have physically happened.

For ford UK it's about the vehicle being returned with a wheel nut missing, as if they did that (which is admitted) then they likely missed something else and the dealership should have looked at the van immediately.

The rest is not until we see the report (though they are more open to the possibility)

I have no issue with both ford UK and the dealership wanting to see the report 1st before they say anything, as I could just be a peed of customer spouting bs. I'm not, but then even I haven't had the report yet and I'm just going on what was said to me so could be unintentionally.
