Despite being so familiar with the story from book to film version(s), this production felt completely disjointed. It lacked continuity in all ways. The acting was below par - even the usually brilliant Emily Watson felt adrift and just could not pull this together.

I cite the director as very much being the one in charge not having imbibed the essence of "Little Women" and would have done well to perhaps delve into some of the early film productions - to whit the 1933 version.
