I would be very surprised if they make the semis. Cant see it myself. I dont think they are at the stage of having to rely on other results. However I cant see them winning all their remaining games. We still have to play NZ, SA, Bang and Afg.

Speaking from the heart, I think we can win 3 of those games and have a chance against NZ. Win all four and we are in the semis.

Speaking from the head, I think we will win two games and lose to NZ and SA.

Bangladesh looking good.

Shakib, though I may put the kiss of death on him by mentioning it, is currently on the unlucky 87no (for Australians).

Providing they don't lose too many wickets, they could be in with a real chance of winning this game.

200/3 (29).

Chris Gayle's gonna have a bowl AND with his cap on!

Really disappointing, West Indies. Not just today but in the tournament as a whole.

I don't think Andre Russell should be playing. His knees have gone and he struggles to bowl and is limping around the field. Even batting he got out for a second-ball duck and has barely contributed runs for the team thus far.

Another thing I didn't like to see today was Sheldon Cottrell walking around the field with his hands in his pockets.

Earlier on he had fantastically run out Tamim Iqbal and this was before Windies knew they were likely to lose this game. You don't associate such sloppiness from the Windies.

When you see Shannon Gabriel hit for three successive sixes then you know the wheels have well and truly come off, particularly today.

And Chris Gayle? Taunton is such a small ground with 65m boundaries you would have fancied him getting a big score today. Instead he produced a baffling thirteen-ball duck.

Contrast that with Shakib Al Hassan who patiently, diligently and skilfully manufactured a high quality century: he really is the consummate all-rounder and team player.

I'm not surprised at the Bangladeshi win and they won the game at a canter in the end. I'm more surprised at the lack of energy and enthusiasm if the Windies who just looked jaded and beat. And beat they most  certainly were.

Yeah Windies are disappointing so far as they were capable of making the semis IMO. It’s no secret they’ve had “personnel issues” over the last few years and it seems to still be a problem.

Gotta love the Afghanistan uniform...

At Old Trafford today, Captain Morgan! 17 sixes, a record in the CWC. Total carnage but there was very poor bowling it must be said. Had to feel sorry for Rashid Khan, total star in the IPL, out of his depth here. Buttler and Stokes in for the last three overs to see what they can add to the current 359/4.

I might have to revise my comment of Pak being able to beat Bang! They made the run chase look easy. Although WI looked as though they couldnt be bothered, or they thought we have posted a big total so game won.

What a senseless waste of time that was. Afghanistan only mustered 240-odd due to poor bowling and dropped catches by England. IMO their skipper should have said "fair enough" and they could  have all take the afternoon off and gone shopping at the Trafford Centre.

This is probably just me, but I'm finding it really difficult to get enthused about this tournament now thanks to all the rain delays and cancellations, it's just killed all the excitement and momentum for me.

Unless South Africa or Pakistan suddenly find another gear, or Bangladesh start bowling out teams for less than 300, then the current top four will be the semi finalists, and even then those games might be ruined by rain!

Why did anyone think would be a good idea staging this in June?

It's equally possible that the same siutation could happen in July or August, And really, with just three cancellations owing to poor weather, really I don't think the tournament has been too adversely affected.

I agree, the top four now will likely remain the top four so it does have a predictable look about it. And that narrows the interest to those four sides but the great thing is that they are quite close in all departments and so who could really, for example, call Australia v England at Lords next Tuesday?

Looks to be a full game ahead at Edgbaston today as South Africa take on one of the top four, New Zealand. The toss has been delayed for the moment but the weather looks set fair.

Agree on the loss of momentum, it was shaping up to be a decent tournament up until the rain came. Not 100% sure but isn’t there less rain in June than in July and August?

Unless SA win today then the top 4 is done and dusted - that’s pretty disappointing given that we’re only half way through.
