I'm English and this drama opened my eyes to Irish history. I have since studied the history of Ireland.
There's artist licence as characters didn't all exist, but that doesn't matter. Brian Gleeson's Jimmy Mahon brings to life those who lived in 1916 Dublin - their feelings, fears, guilt, truth and justice. He really is an exceptional talent. It is great to see James Connolly portrayed in a good light too.
