At first glance this series provides huge levels of personal excitement for fans of the original. After half an episode, you begin to notice that you haven't laughed yet because the jokes are not funny, and the whole show sounds like a group of friends who watched too much of the original trying to re-enact it to a random movie. It is almost like they knew they weren't funny, so they tried to compensate by commenting every second of every movie.
The next thing you notice is how bad Crow's voice is. It is bad enough that he isn't funny anymore, but the voice is grating. The kicker is, the entire original voice cast is still doing MST3K style shows under the name RiffTrax. They are still funny, still original, and even do newer films with special guests (like Weird Al, etc). I can't understand why they didn't bring those guys back when they are obviously still willing and able. If you want to experience MST3K, save yourself the disappointment and look up RiffTrax, because this series reboot is like Blues Brothers 2000 without any music.
