If you liked Californication, which was a very funny erotic comedy with lots of sex and nudity, you will probably find yourself a little confused about this one. Apparently the idea is to create a not funny erotic comedy with very little sex and no nudity at all. Which makes me wonder what the point is at all. On top of that none of the characters seems interesting enough to justify the attraction they feel for each other. I suppose there's a morale somewhere, but i haven't been able to grasp it really. A married couple seem to have drifted into a tired routine relationship. The husband sets up a meeting with an escort. They don't have sex, but he feels an attraction to her and goes straight home and tells his wife all about it. She then tracks down the escort and are attracted too. Oh yea, and the escort are also attracted to both of them. So the solution is obviously to create a throuple. Well for this to work without any sex or nudity, you'll need to have some very good characters, but this is where it fails. None of them have any real depth, and besides the wife having a vague history of lesbian relationships in her past, we don't really get any background on any of them. So at least we could make it funny, right ? Nooooooooo. It tries very hard not to be a comedy, while at the same time trying not to be too serious either. So i got to ask myself again, what's the point ?
PS. Just finished season 2 and considered adding another star because I actually laughed a few times, but then it changed back to reality drama again. Last episode climax, (well i suppose that's what it was meant to be), with Emma boarding the plane to Seattle, merely made me wonder why we had to sit through 20 episodes to get to that, and do i even care the least what happens to these people ? Well not really, so i stick to my original rating.
