Dongle for holiday wifi
Would like a wifi dongle for holiday in Europe or possibly further afield. Let's stick with Europe for now.Can anyone make any recommendations, please?
Two teens so need as much data as I can, although when not in room should get wifi.
Canno tbelieve how many so-called 5 and 4* hotels still charge for wifi or only have it in lobby. Checkout the Three Network "Feel at Home" destinations. I've just been on a cruise and they wanted $299 for 10 days wifi. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 They did claim it worked anywhere on the ship, but IMHO that's extortionate.
I use an EE 3G dongle for work, however I find that coverage is quite patchy and sometimes won't even get a signal at all at many customer sites, or at the hotel on an evening. Often I can get 3/4G on my phone in the same room no problem, so I don't know if it's a limitation of the dongle or the particular network.
TBH there are so many places that give free wifi, such as cafes, bars and shopping centres (we used all of these when ashore during the cruise) that I'd be inclined just to accept that while on holiday access will be a bit more curtailed. However, I do know how much our eldest (27) is glued to her phone so I can understand the pressure on parents to provide wifi... Yeah we are fine but a 15 and 14 year old who amongst other things are crazy about Fifa FUT. They need YouTube! Check three feel at home depending on your destination. Alot of providers now do a set fee for data in Europe. Feel at Home is awesome (use it for a month in Europe each summer and just back from a week in Portugal) but worth bearing in mind it does not support tethering when abroad. So you would need to check it worked for your use case. An unlocked ee osprey and a three data sim (12GB = £27 / 24GB = £41) would be my preference data lasts 30 days I think Can you a mobile data sim however. That's what I'd did in Switzerland. I think it was £9 for 3GB payg Usually best to buy an unlocked mifi dongle and get local payg sims on arrival. That way, you know they will work.
Most European data offers from U.K. Providers are not valid on mifi or tethered phones. Do check carefully! /proxy.php?image=http://wayofthemoneysaver.files.wordpress.com/2010/05/suspicious-fry.jpg&hash=ae98437a59e0e1a2fe4ef61245028370
