Refuse yourself the opportunity to take mundane travel photos data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 do not just take a photo of the 'thing'. If something takes your interest, it could be part of a photo, look for another element to work with it.

For me I like people, but you could find other shapes or patterns which mimic and mirror.

I miss going away... spending your money on holidays and not gear might not be a bad shout data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Way to kick a man whilst he's down data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Some cracking work there, I particularly like the Tallinn and Helskini series data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I thought the Leica rendered lovely images (which is does) but the Blad renders even nicer data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

With regards to the bit in bold, you make it sound so easy data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 The trouble is I don't know how, I sometimes wonder whether it is something that can be learned or whether you have to have a natural eye?

Thanks Toby and sorry it was not my intention.

I am struggling myself and thought I'd sell the leica Q and hasselblad and get the m10 again. I'm Not!

Really I just need to go out and use it and remember how I love it.

The brain can be trained, take lots of photos work the angles and decide what works best. Then in future photos incorporate your experience.

People may have a natural eye or it could also be before photography they learned the skills through other means, like design work.

Sorry to hear about losing mojo. I've got mine back by taking an interest in Astrophotography, it's so difficult and frustrating but it has given me the will to learn as much as possible and to take some nice, interesting photos.
Don't try it if you can't stand the cold data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Thanks, but the link’s not working for me. I’ll try copying it into my web browser when I’m back on the computer data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Any better?

Great thanks. Interesting that, gives me a new outlook. I just assumed that folk had a natural style that they could hone in on.

Chesterfield's not an ideal place for 'street' photography but maybe I should start making the effort and catching the train up to Sheffield.

Glad I’m not the only one! In my case it’s far worse than the original poster as I’ve not used my camera gear for over 2 years now (it might be nearer 3). This is despite me only working 16 hours a week for the last couple of years. My ‘problem’ is that I’ve been mostly playing golf to the exclusion of almost everything else data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The golf club I belonged to went bust at the end of December so I’ve not played since then and it’s got me thinking about the cameras again. I used to take wildlife photos - mainly birds, so I think I’ll go back to doing that again when the weather allows.
