Sure and why not... But the point is they are fertilising the soil to help get vr going. Initially at least it's that annoying circle, not enough hmds so no one takes the risk. Doom and fallout VR are good signs imo.... But codies pulling out not so much.

But ultimately it’s a road to nowhere. Oculus have shown how serious they are about PCVR at OC4 without any mention of a new PC HMD. This has opened the door to Pimax a company thats willing to push PCVR full throttle.

You are making g the assumption that it NEEDS to be replaced yet. Of course some want a new on but the biggest gripe held against vr has been price of entry. Oculus have nailed this by both bringing cost of entry of hight end pc vr down thanks to ASW on the pc, and the full vr pack at £399. They are releasing entry level and mid range products which are stand alone. A VR hmd for all pockets.
Would some here buy a cv2? Maybe but we are a small group. I know you are happy to blow oculus money by them releasing a generation 1.5 hmd but maybe if it were your business and your cash you would be less happy to bet the farm on an interim upgrade of an already niche product.
Oculus were late to the party with motion controls. Valve/HTC beat them by a good 9 months... But all but the most blinkered would accept touch blows the wands out of the water arguably forcing an upgrade to the knuckles. which may come this year.
Will pimax be better than rift.. sure! But I suspect it may be a similar thing again if oculus launch a better developed more consumer polished hmd in (hopefully early) 2019.
You are excited about pimax and it does look good but it's still early days yet.
that said... i *may* end up upgrading sooner, because, like you i am a VR fanboy, and happy to throw more money than i probably should at it. This does not mean that chucking out baby steps upgrades is the business savvy way to promote VR however.

Pimax’s new $3 million stretch goal is for the eye tracking module. Really useful for foveated rendering and Avatar eye movement so you can see what people are looking at making them seam more life like. It’s going to play a big part in VR in the future.
I really hope more people jump on the Kickstarter because what you get for your pledge is a bargain imo.

Id be really tempted to jump on but I understand the available options are now pretty limited. I'd want the full fat 8k headset without the controllers and lighthouses. No interest in any other package.

That’s what Huxley and I have gone for the 8k HMD in its own.
This is my first Kickstarter and it feels crazy exciting lol

Pimax have sold 60,000 4k units so 4000 8k units shouldn’t be a problem. It’s not like they’re a start up company with no experience on manufacturing.

Yeah, I'd want the 8kX but it's gone.

I don’t think there’s any GFX card that can render native 8k (32 megapixels) that’s why they took it off the Kickstarter.
The 8k renders 16 megapixels (4k) then upscales to the 8k panel. Much more PC friendly especially if you want some headroom for sims.
Pimax were touting the 8kX for next gen graphics cards and SLI setups but we all know how the SLI landscape looks.
Pimax also say you can’t see much difference between the upscaled 4k v native 8k as the pixel count is the same.
But it’s your call Nivek TT I don’t want you to miss a bargain. Don’t kick yourself for not joining the Kickstarter.
