Hi guys, can anyone confirm for me that all the sizes in Sony's HX853 series share the same panel?

I only ask since I have read that the smaller 40" version has a cheaper S-PVA screen compared to the larger 46/55" TVs having the S-PVA with PSA.

I am sure I have seen a tear-down of the 40" version somewhere online and it seemed to have the same panel as it larger brothers.

Any help is much appreciated.Thanks.

EDIT: reading further on the forum its seems the mod on their took photos of both the 40HX853 and 46HX853 and found different panels in each:

Then why does the pixel structure look different in the photos above? Unless the mod from the forum faked it (which I don't believe). There might be some panel lottery going on with the 40" version. Who knows.

The second link to the digital versus review actually shows the panel pixel structure, which looks the same as the 40HX853 photo from my post.I thought a psa type panel had square pixel structure not the herringbone type shown in that review.

...and this could explain why I was upset with the whites on my model (also noticed by one review) and other users that are happy with their ones...

I remember that hristoslav said to me that only TV with panel higher than 40" provide good picture quality...
...and I am testing by myself how much it is true... data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

The 40 inch version of 850, is installed panel of older SPVA type.
The reason to not have the same features as its larger counterparts(46,47,50,55,65") is that if you apply the same technology, these panelswill become too expensive and unsaleable. That's why compromising in 32, 37, 40 inch panels and ...buying 24-40" TVs respectively.

Consider the following indicators
- contrast
- hertz
For small diagonals these indicators are lower.

True. It makes sense from a business standpoint. I've been trying to find out if the models with newer PSA panels really differ that much in practice since the panel itself doesn't tell the whole story. Things like image processing etc ofcourse affect the picture quality too. Is it worth being concerned about?

So comparing the 65hx929/950 to the 55" models that use SPVA Psa which panel would you say has better native contrast and viewing angles, the SPVA in the 55s or CMO SMVA in the 65s?

And how do these panels compare to the sharp uv2a panels being used in the Sony hx909 46/52" models?

Hello everybody
I was wondering if there is a list of 42 tv's,fitted with the LC420 SDA1 panel. I am the unfortunate owner of a 42LV5500, with a broken panel and am looking for some replacement options. If such a list dont exist, can we consider for compatible panels?I mean can i fit another type even if iloose some attributes of the original one, without loosing smart tv's stuff and without causing some conflict of course. Thank you in advance and i hope i am not far out of this topic
