Exactly - reduces contrast from 5000:1 to 4000:1 and the viewing angle from 140 to 120 degrees
It is made with a view to reducing the cost of the panels and improve its dynamics.

What panels are being used in the Sony 65hx929 and 65hx950?
And are these panels superior or inferior in comparison to the smaller versions of each set, 55hx929/55hx950/46hx929?

Don't be dismayed that it'd a cmi panel, its looks like one of there AAA spec panels, contrast is 5000:1 witch I's on par with A spec s-pva,
