Ordered an echo and have been looking at philips hue bulbs. So will the echo work with just the bulbs or do you need the bridge also?

DroidSkin Publish time 1-12-2019 21:07:09

You'll need the bridge. Alexa will talk to the bridge, the bridge will operate the bulbs.

Edit: reading through the reviews on Amazon, it seems that a lot of people bought the starter kits on black Friday, so might be worth holding off until then to see if they get offered again?
It's what I'm doing...

Ordered two echo's. Been waiting a long time for these to officially launch in the UK and not have to hack about on a US one.

I think I'll use it loads from the off, but when the push notification support lands it'll expand its capabilities no end IMO

Just ordered the Echo.
Have Philips Hue lights and Harmony hub.Does anyone have any good links and info for integrating these devices?

Paperlantern Publish time 1-12-2019 21:07:12

I am using both IFTTT and also Yonomi which can talk to both, the latter seems to have lots of potential to be able to launch an activity using the harmony plus also turn on lighting etc with one voice control.

paul211b Publish time 1-12-2019 21:07:12

Seems like Amazon and Harmony are working on this anyone have any news?Should be totally integrated with the Harmony hub so you can change channels etc.

zantarous Publish time 1-12-2019 21:07:13

It is a no brainer that Alexa and the Harmony Hub should work together without the need of IFTTT.

Any details on when the integration for Harmony and Echo will be complete?
