Being distracted by SWTOR last night meant I missed out on some important WoT news! Since yesterday they are celebrating their 1 year anniversary and there are plenty of discounts to be had.
My personal fave is that the Panther is half price in credits (only 680k). Also 3 days of premium account for the price of one day! (250 Gold for a 3 day pass!!! bargaintastic) you can buy 1500 Gold for £5.95. x5 Exp on first fights until Tuesday. Half price equipment and half price premium tanks.

How do you allocate crew members from barracks into empty tanks?
I'm getting slightly addicted to this wonderfull game.
Although having unlocked an M3 Stuart, it is annoying getting matched against KV-1's and Panzer 4's.
Can anyone suggest the best route for getting heavy tanks?
Unfortunately it is just grind grind grind.
It can be a little disheartening in the game, that it becomes such an immense grind. Also, the matches are randomly distributed, so even when you hit heavies, there will always be someone in something bigger and better.
Get yourself as many Tier5 tanks as possible. These generate the most money if you are non-premium. Stug III, Panzer IV, M4 Sherman, T34 are all good money makers. I would include KV-1 but I've not had a chance to play it since the patch removed my original KV which to me was my best money maker in the game when fully kitted out. It is a grind but if you simply enjoy the game for what it is and not worry about the grind it does take your mind off things!
The match maker can make you angry but every now and again you appear at the top part of the tree. That's your chance to shine and get the exp and credits!
The French tank tree will drive you mad to start off with as they are horrible but there is a little gem in Tier 4 the B1 (or mini Maus). If you are ranked top of the list you are home and dry!

World of Tanks is now updated to version 7.4 and of note it has now introduced French Tank Destroyers and SPGs, new game modes and some new Premium Tanks. The full list of update is here
