With regards to tips it all depends on your playstyle. Have you had a chance to unlock some Tier 2/3 tanks? Out of curiosity which country did you opt for or have you gone for a spread of nations? I'm not a pro by any stretch I simply enjoy the fun of it all but here are my thoughts........
The early SPGs are pretty naff as you have to get close to the enemy lines in order to hit them but boy do they get powerful further down up the Tier tree you go. I've got an S51 and boy does that hurt. If you are spotted by the enemy move out! People always try to take out SPGs if they spot one as you can hurt the enemy the most.
Light Tanks are good spotters for your teams artillery and can cause havoc late game to expose the enemies artillery too. Good for scouting and can be great fun to play. When playing a light tank, keep moving, only stop if you really need to pick someone off. You can get one shotted by some of the heavies. Don't give them a stationary target.
Medium Tanks are nice mixture of speed and power, useful for sneaking up on people and can rumble with the best of them. Hang back behind the heavies to support them or try and flank the enemy.
Heavy Tanks (once you get to them) are the slow moving power houses each heavy has it's good and bad points. Some are better suited to sniping from a distance others are good are good at up close and personal. Does depend on the tank.
Tank Destroyers - sit back and snipe. Hang behind your heavies or protect your artillery/base. You have a mean gun and can hurt. I found the Marder II a great early TD. If you are spotted you could be in trouble. Camo nets are useful.
Learn the enemy's weak spots, this can include viewing ports, hatches etc you can do more damage by aiming for a weak spot. Notice that when you move you sight over a target it can changes colour. Green indicates the best chance of a penetrating shot, yellow is less likely. If you aim for sloped armour you are more likely to ricochet or bounce a shot.
If you have some spare gold, bag yourself a Churchill (premium tank). This is a good Tier 5 heavy with an insane rate of fire which can bag you some very healthy credits (10-15k non-premium). You also usually start at the higher end of the tree in the game matchmaker so you have a good chance of bossing. Damage = cash!
The best regular money makers are the Tier 5s (Panzer IV, M5, T34,Stug III etc) for non-premium although you you can make a lot more from higher tiers but you do need a good game as your repair costs and ammo costs start increasing the further up the tank lines you go.
The French Tank tree early on is a horror, it can be quite frustrating but once you get to the AMXs and ARL 44 life does become more fun!
Enjoy.
ps When version 8.0 comes out it will give the game a nice graphic update and introduces physics which could be interesting......

Hello, I could do with some help. I've managed to unlock a few tier 3 tanks but I find I'm not lasting very long in my Stuart, T127 or the T18, although I find the T18 is good from range. Have I wasted my money on some donkeys

Is that the M3 Stuart? Keep moving. Never stay still. It's like the others, once you get the top gun for it does play well. The M5 (next Tier up) is a very nice light tank. Your speed will help you and your team.
The T-18 (like most TDs) is best played by range. Sit back and support the mediums or protect your arty. Hang in there though as next in the tree is the T-82 (which looks like a shopping trolly). Once it gets the 105 Howitzer is a proper boom cannon and is great fun to play, you will be able to one shot lights.
I've not played the T-127, it's a premium tank that I don't own so I can't comment on that one.
The early Tiers (especially the US tree) can be a bit frustrating. I found the Tier 5, M7 rubbish but the Tier 6 M4A3E8 is a treasure!
Watch out if you go the US medium tree as the M3 Lee is effectively a TD even though it is classed as medium, it has no turret, so play it like a TD. Once you get to the M4 Sherman you have a proper class tank there and is what I call a "keeper", don't sell it, it will earn you good money as well as being great to play.

Thanks for the tips. I sold the T127 and bought M82 instead. I'm doing OK so far but matching against tier 5 tanks is tricky

Light tanks (and fast mediums) in general are tricky tanks to drive whatever the tier as you're essentially assistance and need to judge the moment so you can jump in when the enemy is distracted and won't shoot you. If you're fast don't be afraid to move to another part of the map if it looks like the situation in front of you won't favour your tank.

I've been playing this for a couple of weeks & it's pretty good. Frustrating sometimes, but quite addictive.
I've got a Stug III now with camo netting & gun rammer to speed up reloads. It's nice the finally be able to hurt the likes of the KV tanks, which is virtually impossible with the Hetzer.
The light Russian tanks like the BT-2 and BT-7 are good to play as they're fairly fast and have a decent gun for the level.

The Stug III is very very nice and can earn you very decent credits.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
