Seeing as this is for a good cause I'm stickying this for a while to try and get the maximum number of members involved.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Good idea about the timer, Slacky...is there any way of feeding this back to Stanford/Sony??? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

However, I wouldn't switch the power off while it is in the middle of processing in case of data corruption (see warning message when the program boots up!). You should go to the 'Quit' option via the menu to ensure the program is paused and the calculations are saved.

Wow!Best i've got is 0.085 which seems an hour or so in, and when you get near the end of a WU it seems to drop to 0.06.I'll assume you have a typo, because thats stunningly fast!Nice to know i'm about the same speed as some others, as i wondered if there was a way to test if all your SPUs are working (given the rumour/FUD) on ones PS3.

Yeah it was awfully lonely, and then BAM! suddenly the AVF team has 20 people data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 Great to see people doing stuff.

I'm up to 3 WUs now, but in normal reality i'll probably only have it on an hour or two a day idle for , and wont be leaving it on all day everyday or anything like that.

EDIT:oh and a big thanks to the mods for stickying - cheers guys!

Yay almost at the petaflop mark! (952 teraflops as I write).

For comparison, Blue Gene (the #1 supercomputer) is 'only' 360 teraflops.

the ps3 contributions have gone from 613 to 697 overnight, gonna hit 2 petaflops easily data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Before long the ps3 is going to make up 75% of the processing power of the project. Hopefully its not a short term surge and people will continue to contribute. It just shows the power of the processors in the ps3 for this sort of work and how much of a drag the operating system and other oveheads are on a normal p.c.

I have turned mine off to give it a bit of a rest, its been switched on pretty much the whole time since 10.30am launch day data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 I wont be leaving it on 24hrs a day, I am thinking of leaving it on overnights though when electricity is cheap....

24/7 shouldn't have any trouble with modern hardware (and the ps3 does seem to be a very well built piece of kit).Still, even an hour a day of processing is nearly a work unit a week.. and it's all useful.

Leave it in autostart mode and every time you take a lunch break etc. it'll get a bit of processing in.
