Authentic chinese food cooked in your own home!

Our family has been cooking dinner parties (Chinese food) for a few people we know from when we use to have our Chinese restaurant, maybe 2 to 3 times a year.

My question is, if you was to hold a dinner party, would you pay around £50 per person for a 2 to 3 course authentic Chinese meal - cooked in your home! AND I don't mean the food you would get from your local take away!

I ask this as my brothers and I feel/want to branch out a bit and start doing it more like a business.

We did one last night and it was fantastic, everyone was very very pleased with what we did for the dinner party, i'll post some pics up once I get them from my brother.

So, would you pay around £50 per person for a Authentic Chinese Banquet??

How much would £50/person get you in the local restaurant ?

My wife's family had someone over to cook a really good Sunday lunch, three courses ( coffee) for around £150 (including food) for 12 people. They were eating the leftovers all week too. £50 a head is a bit steep, even if the ingredients cost twice as much. You might get away with charging that if the chef was well known / regarded, and you were in an expensive area to eat out, but otherwise, it's a hell of a lot of money to pay for someone who is saving massively on overheads by using this business model.

I find that quite expensive mate, can you give us a typical menu that you would cook

£50 a head and I can get a superb Chinese or Thai in my area (general South UK), so I don't think I would pay that. Sorry data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

£50/head would have to come with something way over and above just food. It would need entertainment, drinks, service and more to justify the price.

I'd cook you authentic Chinese food for free if you brought the beer!

I wouldn't pay that no, presuming it doesn't include drinks that's high end restaurant pricing, it's pretty close to London Michelin star pricing in fact.

We had a nice 3 course meal for 2 at Jamies Italian in Birmingham last night and it came to £50 for the pair of us.

I had 12 course banquet in Hong Kong for less than £50 per person, maybe you missed a "1" off the number of courses?

Otherwise it sounds expensive.I can cook authentic Chinese food already, so this had better be pretty special.Maybe if the ingredients were top class: Wagyu or kobi beef, Tieguanyin tea, Sharks fin, birds nest etc so a bit more on what one gets for £50?What regional style or an example menu?

HK can be as expensive as you want it to be. £3 for dim sum in this country is a bit of a joke in a direct comparison though
