Food Poisoning

I'm pretty sure i had food poisoning over the weekend. I suspect it was the smoked salmon i ate. Saturday night i felt awful, throwing up all night and no sleep. I felt a little better on Sunday. Now i'm feeling a little strange. I'm short of breath, have no appetite (highly irregular for me), still feeling very tired even though i'm sleeping fine now. I also feel very anxious and light headed.

Really gutted as i have a week off work and wanted to make the most of it. Has anyone else had food poisoning before and how long did it take until you were 100% again?

Go down to your docs mate.

best to get his opinion on these things.

Could be that you are in for worse.

Could be something else entirely.

I've only had 'proper' food poisoning once, and it was awful.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
Had to get rehydrating powders from the doc and all sorts.
Took days off work to get over it, and a good but longer before I was 100%.
Lost a lot of weight too, which I didn't need to do at the age I was then.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Anything I've had since has just been a 'dose of the runs', I wouldn't use the term food poisoning lightly again.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Get yourself checked.

Had food poisoning two years ago. Truly awful experience. In my case I was vomiting and had rusty water out the rear end for days. Its your bodies response to the bad bacteria in your stomach and bowels, It just wants to get it out of your system. Take it easy and get plenty of rest. You have my sympathy. Hope you feel better soon.

I tend to get food poisoning quite a bit but in small bouts. Ive honed my skills to get rid of quickly now so that helps. Most of the time it ends up with me getting the runs. Main thing to do is to stop all food for a day or so but take in plenty of liquids. After that, start with things like breads or tea and buscuits.

Also take Motillium tablets at the right intervals. They cost a load here so when a relative goes to Pakistan, we get them from there.

Usually better within 24 hours.

Last time I had it bad was around 18 months ago though. Stuck in bed with a fever, vomiting and the runs. First time I remember it that bad. After that I didnt get it for a good while, until 10 months later, when I was on holiday! Lost a day just lying in bed in the hotel after a chicken wrap put me out of business.

Plenty of fluids and some motillium/immodium should do it

Tesco own brand is about a third of the price of immodium if you run out of supplies qwerty..data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Thanks. Never bothered to check for other brands.

Usually 2 or 3 tablets last me a bout and when someone bring some over they get around 30 tablets and all for less than the price here!

Actually - it's a very sensible thing to do. Some kinds of food poisoning should be reported and confirmed. If the food was purchased form a shop or cafe etc. they coudl be exposing lots of people, including the elderly, or children who are potentially at serious risk.

I had what I thought was food poisoning while in Kathmandu, turned out to be dysentry. Literally weeks of fun ejecting pink jelly from the rear. It was about 3 weeks, and half a stone later before I felt 100%

Aye, I totally agree. You know you've had food poisioning when you've had it so to speak.

I couldn't get out of bed for 3 days, only crawled to the toilet for various evacuations here and there.

This was about 8 years ago but I still remember it vividly. One of the worst experiences of my life. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
