Protein Shakes.

Yay or nay? I've heard conflicting views.

For what? As easy quick cals they're useful but personally I prefer mixing whey with oats

Do you need them in your diet? If you don't know what your current protein intake is then work it out to see if you need an easy way to top it up.

yes, good as a top up but not for a primary source of protein...

Try to get all your protein from your normal diet.

A lot of protein powders on the market are overpriced and full of unnecessary that will just bloat you out and make you fat.

The quality and type of protein does have an affect on your body composition so keep that in mind too.

Yes, I have Whey after a workout and a Casein one when I go to bed. Choose one that uses natural on no vlavouring withhout and sweetners\sugars. I get all my stuff from proteinworks who pretty much uses only natural ingredients.

Depending on your goals and timing. for growth i have some with my oats every morning and then pre , during and post workout with simple carbs dextrose pre and during and a mix of dextrose / maltodextrin post workout.

All helps with protein synthesis and faster digesting protein like whey will get nutrients to the body faster than wholefood .
