Do you eat out of date food?

Are you like me and refuse to eat food that has went past the use by date or do you not mind if its a couple of days out of date or perhaps even a week or two?

I don't like to see waste so feed out of date food to friends and relatives who do not seem to mind this at all. Especially stale bread to more elderly relatives they seem to enjoy it very much.

Do you tell them it's out of date?

If it's out of use by date by 5 seconds I would refuse to eat it. It would be perfectly save 5 seconds prior.

Bread doesn't last in here, a loaf a day easy is the norm, and as for anything else if it smells or looks off just chuck it.

Do you mean best by or use by?

If it smells and looks ok then it will probably be ok. I also buy and freeze bits from the reduced section that are due to 'go off' on that day. If you get them home and straight into the freezer they are storeable for another 2-3 months.

I eat chocolate 3 years out of date once. I died.

Don't care, we don't waste food.

Simple rules:

How does it look?
How does it smell?
What food is it?

Most things can be eaten well past their best before, but you need to be careful with things like chicken, shellfish, pork, etc.

Mostly yes apart from milk which goes stright down the sink and meats.
