Got rellies in for Christmas this year, so looked at booking into the local restaurant on Christmas Day.
Tomato soup, turkey and Christmas pud = £52 pp.
Quickly abandoned that and am going to go with:
Tomato, nutmeg and ginger soup.
Avocado and parma ham drizzled with macadamia oil and a walnut puree.
Full Monty main A-Z of the usual turkey stuff.
Christmas pud with brandy cream.
Fruits of the forest sorbet with brandy snaps.
The stinkiest cheeses I can find.
Then hit the sherry hard and be comatose by 4pm.
It's the only day I celebrate - don't bother with birthday etc - so that's my excuse.

Leaving it a bit late aren't you? data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
I always start end of October with cake and pud and then every week aim to add a minimum of one "dish" to the pre-prepared list.So sausage rolls, mince pies, venison casserole (for boxing day), pigs in blankets, parboiled parsnips etc etc are already prepared and in freezer.Cake is iced and decorated with my slightly haphazard decoration.
Did the veg shop today data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 and prepared cranberry sauce, finished off wrapping presents and talked my husband into queueing at the butchers to collect the turkey. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Is it just me or does anyone else have Christmas shopping lists and timetables on their computer that they use (with updates) each year?
I do sometimes get odd looks going around supermarket with my printed list but what's the point of reinventing wheel every year.

The vultures have picked the shelves dry already. And you have to queue ten deep to buy a pint of milk!
Will be seeing what's left last thing Xmas Eve. Not intending to pay full price for anything. If it ain't discounted, it stays on the shelf. I'll let you know how I do

My son and his girlfriend are not coming down til boxing day this year as it's their first Christmas with their own home.
He has just contacted me to ask what sort of apples I use in "apple and cheese on toast" so goodness knows what they are planning for Christmas dinner data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
