I was thinking of changing my routine from 5x5 to something like push/pull/legs so was contemplating copying your workout for leg day.

I think you've just put me off!

Lol, give it a try... I find it.. challenging.

No gym today after work, the weather was too nice to go and sweat in a room, so I hit the trails on the mountain bike!
31km to be exact and my legs are shot! Started getting cramp in the thigh on the last few climbs.

Getting more confidence now and even managed some air data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Tonight's workout (blatantly copying shodan)

A1 Squat
3x8x60kg

A2 Squat jumps
3x8

B1 Calf press
15x45
15x52
15x59

B2 Leg press
15x52
15x59
15x66

C1 seated leg curl
15x32
15x39
15x45

D1 Seated leg extension
3x10x32

E1 kettle bell tabata
12x10kg (20 sec on, 10 sec rest)

F1 treadmill
10 min (2 min walk, 1 min run)
5 min (incline 7 speed 4)

I haven't done a routine like this for a while so I need to tinker with the weights/reps a wee bit.

I've also never run on a treadmill before, only walked, so that was an achievement for me. Hopefully I'll be able to increase time running as I get more practice. I've had problems with shin splints in the past so we'll see how this goes!

I tried good mornings after the squats but didn't feel comfortable as I've never done these before. I'll watch some YouTube clips of these and maybe try again next time.

I think I'm going to do a push/pull/legs split with the intention of losing fat so just need to come up with a plan for Tuesday Push.

Like it, good work load, lots going on!Did you superset or like normal multi set for the them? I tri-set the squats into good mornings into jump squats and it is a killer!
But most importantly, did you enjoy it?

CH_2009 Publish time 26-11-2019 05:06:26

I did superset with squats and jumps and again with calf raise and leg press. I intended tri setting with good mornings for the first set but never managed it as mentioned above. Any suggestions for an alternative?!

I did enjoy it. Other than the squat jumps, it was quite easy, so I do need to up the weights a bit I think.

As I haven't done this type of workout in a while I'm sure I'll be feeling it tomorrow!

Why couldn't you manage it mate?Could you get in deadlifts instead?Maybe squat thrusts or goblin squats instead?

CH_2009 Publish time 26-11-2019 05:06:28

Just wasn't comfortable doing them and don't want to injure myself. I might go back to them though.

I think I will try and get deadlifts in but not part of a tri set, maybe at the end - say 1x5-8 @ 100. Really torture myself!

I don't think I'm fit enough to add squat thrusts to the tri set. I'll keep them in mind for future though.

I think I'll try goblet squats or possibly dumbell lunges to the tri set and see how I get on.

Excellent stuff mate.
I used to have a Love/Hate relationship with leg day. But since doing this routine... It's more of a Hate/Hate relationship...
