I think the records in Feb are too numerous to mention.Lack of rainfall, record sunshine, warmest this that and the other. We were all there, we all saw it(them) happen.

The other night a BBC weather reporter was talking about exceptionally high temperatures observed in the North East (mainly scottish hills, I think). Sorry I can't be more precise, but I can't find any mention of it on the old interweb.
He was discussing a fascinating cycle whereby warm air rises up hillsides at one temperature, and then warms again on the descent due to the "fern effect". Resulting in up to 5 degree increases in air temperature, and temperatures approaching seasonal records - around 17 degrees.
It's a shame I can't find more information about it. I generally find BBC weather forecasts horrendously tedious, but this was rather interesting.

40% of the worlds biggest corn crop was in good or excellent condition.Holy cow!Hopefully some of the 60% is still useable otherwise the price of food will rocket, surely.
Still gives me a hint as to what to invest in, bearing in mind the perfect storm thread in P&E
