So.... Yet again still no evidence the government has been demonising the sick.
Saying they've been using the perception of others... That's so wooly it'll keep me warm on my way to work today.
It's a myth. Just like the myth that the Tories are going to privatise the NHS or that they only represent toffs.

Hardly surprising when government outsource to private sector and those private sector only real responsibility is to act in the interest of their shareholder, at best conflict of interest.

It’s an opinion, luckily everyone is entitled to one. Doesn’t make it so though.

benefit cuts fuelling abuse of disabled people
Current attitudes towards disabled people
The Government’s welfare reforms and austerity policies have led to “grave and systematic violations” of disabled people’s rights, an inquiry by the United Nations found.
Disabled people were also routinely portrayed as being “dependent or making a living out of benefits, committing fraud as benefit claimants, being lazy or putting a burden on taxpayers”, the report found. - UN report on UK Disability
So it's not just 'my opinion', it's the conclusions drawn and published by many organisations who actually spent the time researching and investigating issues with disability and the way the governments attitudes and policy effect them .... rather than say, flippant politically/ideologically motivated 'opinions' by those with don't like things such as facts getting in the way of how they believe the world to be.

When there are no facts included in the original prejudiced statement then what is the point? Just because you like to submit a lot of characters with each post that doesn't mean it makes it so.

From the same report.
The last two decades have witnessed important legislative changes seeking to tackle discrimination towards disabled people
Stupid government. Don't they know they're supposed to be demonising the disabled, not protecting them?
23% of the disabled said they wanted a change in attitude from local government and also 23% said they wanted a change from health and social care staff. (Damned nurses, demonising the disabled eh?)
Central government was not even in the list.
Wasn't it 600k more disabled people working now under the Tories? That sounds like good progress to me.

Talk about cherry picking and taking things out of context....
Firstly, the Scope report:
i) does not address government policy in the scope of it's research and findings, therefore, quoting the lack of comments on blaming the government is hardly surprising.
The report is about the personal and direct interactions between the disabled and other members of society, therefore since the disabled rarely if ever directly interact with the government, the report does not include the government in it's scope.
ii) does provide supporting evidence of the occurrence prejudice, physical abuse and a lack of belief in someones disability.
iii) local authority AND government staff are mentioned in that 23%, which means people like the DWP etc. The government themselves are not mentioned because the report is about people who the disabled directly interact with
iv) the legislative changes seeking to tackle discrimination towards disabled people were primarily from the EU.
Secondly and more importantly, you fail to address the UN report, the other article as well as the girth of articles and publications in the media(just google) that indicate the rise in hate crimes against disabled people is linked to the governments/ministers negative comments and policies with regards to disabled people - along with certain sections of the media.
"The Government’s welfare reforms and austerity policies have led to “grave and systematic violations” of disabled people’s rights, an inquiry by the United Nations found.
Disabled people were also routinely portrayed as being “dependent or making a living out of benefits, committing fraud as benefit claimants, being lazy or putting a burden on taxpayers”, the report found" - UN report on UK Disability.
"Hate crime against disabled people has risen by more than 40 per cent in a year, including assaults and verbal abuse. There were 941 prosecutions for disability hate crime in 2015-16, a rise of 41 per cent compared with the previous 12 months, according to the Crown Prosecution Service’s hate crime annual report" - Hate Crime annual report by the Crown Prosecution Service.

A huge percentage increase on what is in reality a very low number is just that. But like with the marriage thread they keep whinging about 15% increase, yeah sure still only 926 couple affected compared to how many million. Let’s keep some perspective.
