I appreciate I’ve only seen the video from the front which may or may not be staged, but as far as I can see, they’re defending themselves with gunships and machine guns against burning tyres, slingshots and Molotov cocktails.From your statement, they’re also facing down women and children.

I'd be apprehensive about taking my child to a football match, these people brought their children to a mass riot against people with machine guns. With the obvious and predicable outcomes.
Yep, and that makes it the completely wrong reaction from the IDF, which is why they're being condemned left, right and centre. They're only supposed to open fire under immediate threat of safety, it seems the world at large are in agreement that unarmed civilians don't constitute that threat. It's hardly the first time they've reacted like this though, it seems bystanders are a pretty good target when the IDF open fire.
So it’s obvious and predictable that the most moral army in the world will open fire on unarmed women and children (regardless of the fact that they shouldn’t have been there).
Well you said it yourself, they are under attack. And why bring women and children to such a violent attack?
And it is exactly because it isn't the first time that they respond like this. It is a constant and ongoing attack and torture to the daily lives of the people of Israel. Just leave them alone. I'm not violent and won't attack, but if you keep on poking me I will leash out. So please don't cry foul when you start it.
