1. From 2006. Bit old. No wonder you didn't link to it. I thought it was odd as a UK population of 55 million was low.
So:
BBC NEWS | UK | 5.5m Britons 'opt to live abroad'
2. The majority of expats live in Australia, Spain, the US and other English speaking nations.
So English speaking countries, English enclaves, former colonies. Ok.
3. Almost one in 10 British citizens is living overseas, according to a study of people coming in and out of the UK.
Note that living overseas isn't entirely the same as living there permanently. But ok.
4. The number of British citizens who chose to go permanently abroad doubled from 53,000 in 2001 to 107,000 last year - some 2,000 people a week.
5. But Sir Andrew Green of Migrationwatch UK said the departure of British citizens should be seen against an annual arrival of some 300,000 immigrants.
And for the 100,000 who choose to live abroad permanently, 300,000 did come here. Hardly a ringing endorsement for other countries then.

I'm certain it's not deliberate but some people on here seem conflating Britishness with Englishness and the survey was specifically about feeling proud to be English and attitudes associated with that feeling of Englishness.
I'm sure everyone on here has a different interpretation of what it takes for someone to be English, whether it's an ethnic definition, a place of birth thing, or a language and culture thing.Perhaps a mixture of these aspects.

The English have always been guilty of conflating Englishness and Britishness when it suits them, e.g. sports.
But I think these days, especially with the rise of nationalism in other parts of the UK, the English are probably more careful to say they are English and perhaps proud of their country in the same way as the Scots, Welsh and Irish. If you ask someone from Glasgow their nationality, they will invariably say they are Scottish.
Culturally, there are differences, so it is quite in order to make the differentiation.
Of course, when it comes to filling out your landing cards, we are all British because we have a British passports.
