I have never proffessed to knowing what everyone else thinks.
What everyone anyone else 'thinks' has absolutely no relevance to say how long 1 metre is. They can think it's shorter or longer all they want, it doesn't change the fact that 1 metre is 1 metre.
There has to be some arbitrary and agreed upon definition of what constitues being a christian and what does not, otherwise, with no minimum requirements, everyone and anyone could be counted as a christian.
This is especially important when organised bodies claim to represent 'christians' such as the case of the church of england and it's priviledged position as the state religion and representation in the house of lords.
If someone doesn't beleive in God or Jesus yet calls themselves a christian, are they actually a christain ?
Following most of the basic commandments is not unique to christianity, it is shared amongst other religions and non believers alike.
Someone who merely follows those commandments and calls themselves a christian yet doesn't believe those commandments come from any God but are merely a good set of rules to live by is no different from someone with no religion that follows the same univeral rules and doesn't call themselves a christian.
What is missing is the belief in attributing the divinity to those rules.
