What happens when independence goes sour for Scotland/Wales etc?

An interesting aside is that Henry V, England's great fifteenth century warrior King, suspended taxation in the north of England because he couldn't protect them from Scottish raids!
My family are from the Borders and it is generally accepted there were reevers in the family tree.

Welsh independence alone would reduce the existing UK budget deficit from £36bn to £21bn.
Northern Ireland would save around another £10bn, so that's the deficit down to £11bn.
Scotland would save us £13bn, leaving a £2bn surplus for England.

When Westminster made a decision to close government run coal mines, what action did Westminster take to promote and transition people into new jobs, to avoid generations of unemployment and hope?
Some of these closed mines went private and made a profiit after that decision, meaning some at least were still profitable when they were closed.
Just in case you want to understand why some Welsh people still blame Westminster.
I guess the point is, if there had been a transition plan, Wales might not have such large unemployment, and as you seem to put it, a drain on the UK finances.

I'm from the Northeast and it was widely known that many were heavily subsidised to keep jobless figures down. There were some that were mining coal up to five miles under the sea, look up a place call Seaham.
History matters, ignoring it means you won't learn the lessons history has to teach us and mistakes might well be repeated. And you might well be surprised by the level of hate that still exists in some parts of the world for the English/British when it comes to making trade deals.
Which invasion ? Context is key. Are you talking about Edward I era or King Charles I era (English Civil War).
England systematically destroyed Wales as an independent nation state over the centuries, so the likely result of modern independence would be abject poverty for Wales. As it is Wales is underfunded compared to Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Which shows you are insular and unwilling to look at history in a critical way and see how decisions made long before you were born are still having an impact today. The Acts of Union being one example. We could create a new currency and transfer debt over, but that would be starting from scratch and would likely impact the Government's ability to borrow money for a considerable period of time.
I doubt we will ever have an independent England. All that we will have is the United Kingdom of England and Wales.
Our choices are fundamental constitutional reform to save the Union or the messy break up of the UK alongside trying to make Brexit a success.
