Just some?
You're slipping.

It was a rather cut and dried remark of mine, and I hope your shed is not like the one in Twister.

However I think most (as I should have said initially) "accidents" are the result of someone doing something they could have avoided, splitting hairs with that scythe perhaps on my part but a frustration built up over the years of motoring and seeing the result and knowing people are suffering. The one where the poor fellow had a heart attack and some else died as he lost control, certainly not a wilful act and I should have worded better knowing that.

Having been there (not the incident above but bumping into the scenery), I can trace the exact moment I did something wrong and the result (very minor but embarrassing) was attributed to that action. Not an accident, I did something wrong. Same feelings I have for most road bumps, root cause someone did something they should not have and the chain of events was not what they expected.

Was my reasoning. Probably some definition in some dictionary but after some years of sat in jams got me thinking.

Anyway. Will there be chaos at the tunnels today.

You accidentally did something wrong though.
That is the point.

Have to disagree there data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I believe the police now term a coming together as a RTC not RTA?

And that is why it happened accidentally...

You do realise that it isn't just defined a 'by chance' but also covers 'inadvertently' ergo 'unintentionally'. Sure I agree that the original action was done on purpose but the not expecting the consequences wholly fits the bill of inadvertently or unintentionally, therefore accident is absolutely fine and normal...

I think driving requires a higher standard of observance and not paying attention is a deliberate act, therefore not an accident but a purposeful act the driver chooses to do. I think the police now use RTC (road traffic collision) rather than RTA for a reason?

Inadvertently didn't look then t boned a car at a junction, perhaps didn't see the the car was slower and ran into it, ragging it with cold tyres, on the phone perhaps....... I suppose a cow landing on your car causing you to crash is an accident (yep). Or in my case in a rush and not paying attention but defiantly my fault and not an accident.
