Post 1 positive + 1 negative effect of the Brexit vote
Here's an idea: how about we each are trying to post 1 positive and 1 negative effect of the Brexit vote that already has happenedSo not some imaginary or crystal ball generated type scenario which we know both sides are brilliant at coming up with. You start data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 This thread is going nowhere. I give it 48 hours until it's closed. I wanted actually to keep it light and post just one positive to keep the thread going but there are so many that I cannot make my mind up which to choose first. Hope a bit of banter is allowed. =)
1p: The one big positive one for me: the fact that now our political class is coming out for what it is, especially with the this yet another delay to Brexit that's there to keep them in power. Particularly happy how Labour gets exposed for the charlatans they are lead by charlatan in chief with mr Corbyn for whom ending free movement is as supreme as it is for the Tories. Now people will have great image of these two parties and hopefully enough context for how they need to vote in the next elections.
1n: Personally it has affected my future here as I am getting more offers to work in Barcelona and Berlin in the past few months from companies opening up shop there. I used to love this place and this debate made me feel not that welcomed anymore. I hope that this move by some companies is just temporary with this uncertainty will pass at some point. It hasn't even started. Maybe both of you could just post 1p and 1n as I just did to keep it going somewhere. I thought it could be a good exercise for balance, not the usual one sided arguments. Your negative is you are getting lots of work elsewhere? That's a negative? No. My negative is opportunity moving away. I thought I was clear from the context and apologies if it's not.
So far 3 posts from the super-users here, nothing on topic. Of course the thread will be going nowhere...
Have you not found 1 positive and 1 negative that you could quickly post? 1p : the economy continued to do well, employment in particular but now wages increasing partly driven by reduced EU migration
1n : the loss of confidence in politics and potentially many voters deterred from voting ever again. Positive - A personal one for us, whilst not the driving factor, it did help us accelerate and crystallise our plans to leave the UK. Ever since the democratic vote has happened there has been this drive to overturn it by those who didn't get their way. I find it really sad, and it is no basis to utilise that unique opportunity to rebuild the future. But hey ho, we like to grab opportunities when they present themselves and it helped us make the decision and move back to city living on the canals of Amsterdam.
Negative - It has really highlighted to me how large sways of the population have a deep rooted dependency on government and the EU to sort their lives. It really seems many are incapable of determining their own destination and I find that sad. But ultimate the main negative that already has happened, is that the UK political system is in absolute tatters. Sure I agree it is positive that it is now so clear to many that it was build on sand. But the outcome of it is a very negative effect of the Brexit referendum before we even left. At a time of coming together to build the future none of the sorts has happened. Thanks for the contribution guys, keep them coming. I like the combative style so far. What is a positive to me might not be to you.
I hope this thread can make us all think, post, read and help us all move on.
