Two of my favourite basses.

I have just sold this bass. Its a Lakland Skyline DJ5 that i had converted to a PJ. Probably the nicest looking bass ive ever had but i just couldn't get on with the deep tone.

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://davepearce.smugmug.com/Gear/Lakland-DJ5/Sat-24-October-2009-0330/694470570_xuDaH-M.jpg&hash=88b099b5c36788572218584719d8b683

I took this pic a while ago, then sold it and have now just brought another one.
Its a Lakland Skyline Duck Dunn. another lovely looking bass IMO.
Guessi just love the look of blocks and inlays.

                                                                                                                                        /proxy.php?image=http://davepearce.smugmug.com/Gear/Music-gear/26-Jul-7332-3/339808053_s3gq3-M-1.jpg&hash=56f54bde0c1710d8021e1138873400cf

And the amp to go with them.
I use MB heads and have a couple of Schroeder cabs. Lovely and light.

Its just for routing these days, don't do any mixing on it as everything goes into the DSP2000 and then mixed in Cubase data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7Still, useful to have in any case.. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I just don't get fed up of looking at this thread. From getting my first electric guitar at about 15 (now 48) I've *never* lost that feeling that makes my heart jump when I see really nice guitar (that I wish I owned).data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Had forgotten about this thread !! Sorry for not getting back to you. Yes its the JS100, i.e. the cheaper of the Satch models (cost around £700 at the time, at least 10 years ago)

I like it, ...its light, small and sounded good, but its had a lot of gig abuse over the years and needs a good clean and service ! If I ever get my Les Paul it would probably overtake the JS100.....but its safe for now!

Thanks for the reply data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

I've got a Les Paul but want some sort of double cutaway whammy equipped guitar to complement it. At the moment it's a toss up between the JS100 or a PRS SE (I've never bonded with Strats). Good to get some feedback on it, there aren't that many around.

I'll probably end up getting a JS1000 or a PRS CE //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gifdata:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

...a few quid splashed out there data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7 If I have one "complaint" about the guitar is that, in comparison to my strat, its not very loud. You'd think that a humbucker would run louder than a single coil, but not the case. Maybe my setup is wrong or the abuse has had its toll on it over the years? I really need to crank the amp and then it sings nicely! It even has the coil taps so you can split the humbucker into a single coil, I use that a bit to make the neck pickup sound more strat-like!!

Never tried a JS1000, bet its a beauty!

pmc Publish time 25-11-2019 21:08:39

Yeah, the coil splitting is a big part of the reason I want one. I'm a humbucker guy but it would be nice to have the option without having to buy a single coil only guitar.

Have you considered upgrading the pups? One common criticism I've read of the JS100 is that is pups are good, but not great. Lot's of people upgrade them to DiMarzio's, a FRED bridge pickup and a PAF Pro neck pickup, the same as Joe uses.
