Here's an idea, I think it could be interesting to have fellow AVF musicians and producers attempt to master each others work.
I'd certainly appreciate the aural perspective of someone else, and I'd be happy to see if I could improve (or maybe destroy, lol) someone else's work.
I don't have an arsenal of mastering tools to hand, and I doubt many people here do, but sometimes an EQ tweak here and there, a bit of compression or a subtle effect can make worthwhile differences to a mix.
Of course someone will say this wouldn't equate to true mastering, and you'd be right, but I think it could be an interesting excercise nonetheless.
Who's with me?

I'll give it a go. Any particular tune you want mastering?

Lol, I wasn't thinking of anything right now.
However, I've restructured the clip I linked to in my previous post.Just as an experiment, you could download that and see what magic you can springle over it.data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

You only have to look at the waveform on that to know it's been mastered properly.
Good stuff. Which I knew how to do that.

NIN put some of their tracks out in multitrack format to allow remixing. They're great to work with as you get the full sound files to play with. I did this remix in Garageband as I used a version which could be dumped straight into Garageband. I want to try a couple of remixes using FL Studio next as it has more sound tools / synths / etc to work with.

Good idea, I'd be up for that. I haven't got much creativity for making new tracks lately but it would be great just getting stuck into mastering, or even mixing, someone else's work.
Your dance material is pretty close to commercial standard tbh Jules, is it just the master level that you're not happy with?

I'm gonna have a crack at re-mixing & re-mastering this over the coming days if OK with you?
Will post it once finished. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

For me, I find my mixes sound ok on decent gear or through headphones, but they often sound a little hollow and bass heavy on lesser equipment.
It's that crucial 60Hz region I just end up either under or over doing it.

Oooh, absolutely fine. Can't wait.
You want me to send you an uncompressed file to work with?
