Yeah its all me, drums, bass, guitars & vocals. All recorded, mixed & mastered on Logic Pro 9.
Really useful tool that can be a bit tricky to use initially if you no experience with daws but can be picked up with a bit of studying and messing around.
Thanks. data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

That is absolutely brilliant! You play great drums! I guess you have a whole dedicated room as a studio?

All I want to do is to make my recorded guitar sound like it is when I play it...So I just want to record myself live! I think what you do is great, but I just want to replicate what I sound like in my room. Just to send to my nephew and niece overseas.
I'm working on it...But I want a 2 minute piece to take 2 minutes to record. Ie live. I have no interest in overdubbing etc. I am waiting on a new guitar amp and I have a Zoom H4N recorder. So I'll post something in a couple of weeks. It will just be me playing a guitar live.

Cheers

No its not a real drumkit data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7
There is a drum program on Logic called ultrabeat that has various drum sounds from electroinc stuff like the TR 808 to acoustic drums. I simply play the drums using my controller keyboard that is like a small piano. Then you can quantise the track so its time perfect and add other percussion such as hi hats and symbols etc on other tracks.
Its all a building process.

My neighbours would kill me as well as the wife if I bought a proper drumkit! data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7

Speaking as a drummer I second that!! I bought a Roland electronic kit to use at home as you can wear headphones and listen through them instead of treating everyone within 50m to death by tom tom.

Well I'm getting there...Just did this now after a bit of mic placement experimentation. This is not perfect by any means, and the performance is not my best, but I am happier with the general sound. I am still using the Zoom H4N, but have the mics turned towards the guitar rather than the amp. So I get the mix of electric and acoustic sound I was after. I was actually sitting on the floor with the amp 4 feet away, and the mic in between me and the amp! Not ideal as I can't play properly sitting cross legged!
I'm getting a new amp in a week or so and that should sound better.
Oh, and it's a George Gershwin tune. I just listened to it again and I should play it a bit slower with some more dynamics. But at least the recording is now sounding more like it does 'in the room' so to speak.

Your guitar playing is really good.
Not easy playing Gerswin compared to simple chords.
Well done, you are well on your way to being a very proficient jazz guitarist.

Thanks, it's really the sound I'm trying to get right at this stage; that ones a bit too acoustic on replaying it today. And my guitar tends to sound a little 'buzzy' acoustically which can be heard.
I am actually not very good at all! I have about 20 pieces I can play about the same level as that one, but although they all sound jazzy I',m not really improvising, just changing tempo and feel. I have had a teacher for a couple of months but will be stopping that as I am struggling to make it every week as he's miles away.
I'm seeing Martin Taylor and Tommy Emmanuel next week which should put my efforts into context!
Still I am quite enjoying messing around with the recording. I realise I could use a DAW and record straight onto the PC. I can use the Zoom as a USB interface so might give that a go. But I just like the idea of recording at a seconds notice in the room. I have heard some great recordings with the Zoom or similar - indeed, I have made some good concert recordings - but getting a solo guitar right is not as easy as I thought it would be!
I'll probably buy a boom stand for the Zoom and also I need to get my amp off the floor. I'm selling this amp on ebay and buying a specialised Jazz amp, which is much warmer sounding. I'll maybe record the same piece using that and see the difference.

Cheers
Phil

Just created a soundcloud page for my tunes. All these were done about 10 years ago. I hope to put up some new tracks, but the last 10 years I have been producing other peoples work rather than my own.
