Thanks....

That is useful, and yes I always check to see what is exactly covered....We had for example our keys stoled during a burglary from our home. Our home insurance said it was for the car insurance and vice versa. I got it resolved with a lot of negotiation but it was clear that it wasn't part of the cover. I now make 100% certain it is part of the cover as you want multiple action really;
1. Immediate removal of the coded stolen keys - you want that now
2. It can then take a while until new keys arrive
3. They then need to be coded to the vehicle again
4. And for many cars this can only be done via the main dealer - I tried it on the cheap but the lock smiths all said no for my cars (VAG, Mercedes, Toyota etc) had to go to the dealer...

Likewise with actual manufacturers parts instead of third party parts - we had 6 fault windscreens and I suggested to them that I can do this all year long as I work from home and it is no effor for me to be hear. But surely it costs them to support this. I said why don't you just get one from Mercedes themselves? And bingo the first one ordered and fitted was perfect...

But the comparison sites are useful I think if you have a standard vehicle, but always read the key facts and terms and condition...

Technically mine went down by £70, but it went up a ridiculous amount when I changed vehicle halfway through the year. Halifax wanted £770 to renew, Saga quoted me £274.

I always end up with LV ( liverpool Victoria)
Consistently the cheapest plus quick and easy claims handling when car was parked it was bumped into twice by office workers cars backing out of their specs opposite my old place

Mine went up by £50. Went through all the comparison sites and individual insurance companies and some brokers. No one could get it cheaper than last year

My insurance last year was £276. This year my renewal with Direct Line was £316. I had a claim for a non-fault accident (CID car bumped the back of me at a roundabout!). I shopped around but the cheapest I could find was around the same price so I just stayed with Direct Line.

They increase every year don't they? (a result of increase in accident scams I thought).

Mine is ridiculous though:
'15 330d F30, 7yr no claims, married, car kept on driveway, NO comfort access (so not 'simple as pie' to nick), no mods - current year (first year of ownage) quote from Aviva was £600ish.
Upcoming year, NO change to the above - same car, same driveway, (still married data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7), if anything 1 more year of no claims - Comparison sites give cheapest quote now as £850ish data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7.

I'll wait a few months for renewal myself and ring Aviva to see what they say (I'm hoping they don't quote some stupid price as it's simpler to stay put but I have no idea how it could've jumped 40% when I've had no accidents or claims).

We are with Admiral, just got renewal through it had gone up from £210 to £298! I checked out Meerkat like we do with all our insurance renewals and whilst no one could match the price of last year we still found it cheaper.I phoned up Admiral to query the increase and armed with info from Meerkat in preparation to tell them to stick it. As if by magic they managed to get it down to £212 with £50 excess rather than £100.They all try it on and just hope people are too lazy to shop around.

Perfect example was the father-in law, proper old skool been with the same insurance company for years refused to accept anyone could match them and felt like he owed them his loyalty.I stuck his details in Meerkat last year and found insurance nigh on £200 cheaper.Funny his loyalty went straight out the window //static.avforums.com/styles/avf/smilies/facepalm.gif

My renewal is just in, £300 (but £280 if I renew online) last year was £250 and previous year... £190. So... That's not just IPT of a increase over the last couple of years, it's one hell of a mark up. Oh and no claims or changes!

I've not checked any price comparison yet but last year I couldn't beat £250! So I have to say I'm unimpressed, bloody insurance!
